I recently had the privilege of attending WordCamp Asia in Manila, Philippines, and I can’t help but share this incredible experience that left me with countless memories and valuable lessons.

Volunteering: A Proud Moment

One of the highlights was serving as a volunteer timekeeper for both days of the event. This role gave me a unique behind-the-scenes perspective of how a flagship WordPress event comes together. Watching the organizers’ dedication and hard work was truly inspiring. Working alongside other volunteers taught me the importance of teamwork and precision in making such a large-scale event successful.

Learning from the WordPress Community

The sessions were incredibly enlightening, with community leaders and speakers sharing their knowledge and experiences. Some presentations were truly life-changing, offering fresh perspectives and innovative ideas about WordPress and web development.

Meeting My Barn2 Family

After 11 months of remote work, WordCamp Asia provided the perfect opportunity to finally meet my colleagues from Barn2 in person. Meeting nine team members and our CEO, Katie Keith, was an experience I’ll always cherish. We didn’t just stick to professional conversations – we explored Manila’s vibrant nightlife, challenged ourselves in an escape room, and shared countless meals together. These moments transformed our professional relationships into genuine friendships.

I’m especially grateful to Katie for making this team gathering possible. It’s amazing how a few days together can strengthen team bonds and create lasting connections.

Paradise Found: Boracay Adventure

After the conference, we extended our journey to the breathtaking island of Boracay. This tropical paradise offered crystal-clear waters, powdery white sand beaches, and stunning sunsets that painted the sky in brilliant colors. We packed our three days with exciting activities – from island hopping to snorkeling in the turquoise waters, experiencing thrilling ATV rides, and soaring through the air on ziplines.

Final Thoughts

This WordCamp Asia experience was more than just a conference – it was a perfect blend of professional growth, community involvement, team building, and adventure. It reminded me why I love being part of the WordPress community and showed me how work relationships can blossom into meaningful friendships. These memories and connections will stay with me for years to come, making this event truly unforgettable.
